Movie review

I chose to read a review of one of my favorite movies, Shawshank Redemption made in 1994. This review was written in 2008 by John J. Puccio from Movie Metropolis.

I like how he says you need to give the movie a chance and even if you don’t like it at first, allow yourself the chance to warm up to it. I couldn’t agree more. At first I thought the movie seemed boring and slow, but the more I watched, the more I couldn’t seem to turn away. I had to know how it would end.

He also mentions that the movie was based off a Steven King novel which I never knew.

This was a very Lon review as he went into details about audio and video as well as describing a majority of the plot. However, I don’t think it was overkill.

I think this would be a good review for someone to read that has never seen the movie before and was considering watching it.

  1. I have never seen this movie before so you’re right, it was a good review for me to read having never seen it before. I enjoy reading reviews where the critic doesn’t tell you what to think but allows you to make up your own mind. I am looking forward to actually seeing this movie sometime….if I ever get time.

  2. I haven’t ever seen this movie either. I think with a lot of movies you have to wait through the boring parts and like you said, allow yourself a chance to warm up to it. Sometimes I’m hesitant about reading reviews because I let the critic’s opinions influence whether or not I will see the movie. I might have to add this to my list of must sees.

  3. Could not agree more. I watched this in a class back in high school and was so impressed. I really enjoyed this movie. Yes, it starts out slow, but you HAVE to keep watching. It gets physically and emotionally intense. One of my favorite all time films.

  4. This is by far one of the best movies ever, in my opinion. It is long, but just great. I agree that the review did go in depth a lot but I agree, it wasn’t to much. It explains the movie just right.
